Manitoulin Streams has a great partnership with College Boreal and were able to spend the week with them doing fishery surveys to sample fish populations and determine a variety of factors including species health, abundance, and density at various streams around Manitoulin Island. On Monday we went out to Norton's Creek to see how the brook trout are recovering and during three transects we sampled 19 brook trout ranging from 93mm-260mm and 86 creek chub. It is really nice to see the improvements of this creek over the years with all the restoration work completed and all the stewardship efforts such as our brook trout eyed egg stocking event that community members participate in!
