An exciting day as we dropped off fishing rods and reels to the grade 4 classes at Junior P.S. in Wikwemikong. The students participated in our Bass Lake Creek Educational Tours and to encourage getting them active outdoors they all received a rod and reel to take home. Thank you Ramakko's Source for Adventure and the Little Current Fish and Game Club for this wonderful partnership and for all the students ~ Happy Fishing!

Great turnout on Wed May 4th at the Fisheries Workshop. Very interesting presentation by George Morgan about emerging Fisheries Issues on Manitoulin Island. Seija Deshchenes from Manitoulin Streams also presented on stream restoration. Thank you to the Little Current Fish and Game Club for partnering with Manitoulin Streams on this event and the Sheguiandah Seniors Hall for their hospitality and evening snacks!
Last week was extremely busy with six grade 4 classes joining us at Bass Lake Creek for the educational tours. On Monday, Little Current P.S. and Lakeview P.S. joined us. The weather was crazy with 20km winds and snow! But the kids had fun anyway. Tuesday Central Manitoulin and Assisignack P.S. joined us and for the first time on Wednesday Junior P.S. from Wikwemikong came to participate in the tours. Little Current Fish and Game Club and Maniotulin Streams are providing each student a fishing rod and reel to go home with so that they can enjoy the outdoors. Thank you to everyone that came out and volunteered with this great event.
We are setting up these students to be great stewards of the land! |
