Manitoulin Streams is always happy to assist CMT in dredging the mouth at Prov. Once the salmon start staging in the open water, it's clear where their destination is intended. However, this dynamic shifting beach often closes up the mouth this time of year. Once dredged, many salmon are viewed entering the mouth eager to spawn.
![]() In late June A/OFRC came to Wiikwemkoong Unceded Territory and helped with an Electro-fishing assessment on Smith Bay Creek. We were helping Lands & Resources gather baseline information about the fishery. There was exciting news to find a good population of Rainbow Trout and Northern Redbelly Dace. Other species included Longnose dace, Brassy Minnow, Stickleback, Fathead Minnows Blacknose shiner and Finescale dace. This information is important in order to help plan the enhancement of the fishery! |
