A huge shout out to the Little Current Fish and Game Club who were featured in the OFAH magazine for their Bass Lake Creek Educational Program working with school students from all over the island. Manitoulin Streams is proud to be a part of this endeavour. We would also would like to send out our condolences to Ron Bowerman's family and friends. Ron was a huge part of the success of the walleye hatchery and Bass Lake Creek educational program. He will be truly missed!

Phragmites Removal Continues in Wiky

7/30/2018

We were happy to assist Wiky in their Phrag removal on a shoreline area. An important part of keeping this reed from taking over is educating the community on the how's and why's. There has been a very good response from island residents on removing this invasive reed.

Recently, we assisted Judith Jones with Phrag removal in Little Current. Volunteers and staff worked efficiently to tackle the reed along the ditch and in the water. Judith has continually educated on the need to keep this invasive reed under control so it doesn't take over the natural habitat of the shorelines. Thanks to Judith and all volunteers that showed for this much needed work.

We were very excited to be part of the M'Chigeeng Health Centre Family Fun day on July 21st weekend. Liam manned our minnow racing equipment, constructed by our own Assiginack Delmer Fields. A fun time had by all at this event. A big thanks to the health centre for including us on the amazing day.  Watch the Minnow Race

This month there was a Beach Action Day at Providence Bay to remove unwanted plant species that are impacting the dune system and taking over the Pitcher Thistle habitat. A big hank you to all the volunteers that came out to help remove the sweet white clover with Judith Jones and her crew and Manitoulin Streams.
