The Manitoulin Deer show has proven to be a successful annual event. With competitions, cook offs, and many vendors, this small town of Manitowaning has definitely been put on the map! Numbers of visitors are up this year so I’m told, and the prizes, children’s games and speakers made this show a fabulous day. Many connections for our Deer Save educational and awareness. Congratulations Jackie White and the Assiginack Crew for hosting this wonderful event.

We headed out to Kagawong to remove some debris that washed downstream blocking the river and some log jams that were laying across the vortex weir that was installed 2 years ago. With the help of the Stewardship Rangers we were able to clean it up before the salmon start moving upstream! Michael Belmore was giving a guided tour of his art installments that he carved on the rocks along the trail. Great to see him and reconnect again!
An amazing lineup of entertainers at this year’s Countryfest. Our educational table was very busy educating tourists and locals while rock’in to the tunes. This event is always a busy successful event, and a pleasure to attend. Way to go KT and crew for another great year!
As always Providence Bay Fair is one of the busier events connecting with locals and tourists on stream restoration. This type of community outreach is very important to educate the public on the work we do and the importance of stewardship activities. Selling hats and trees also helps our purpose by raising money and promoting our organization. Thanks to Dawn Dawson and the Agricultural Society for hosting a very busy event.
Congratulations to Rebecca Dawson our Community Resource Stewardship Liaison for representing the Providence Bay Fair at the CNE this weekend. She is an amazing ambassador for our youth and communities in agriculture on Manitoulin Island. Her speech was on Manitoulin Streams and agricultural work with Environmental Farm Plans. We are proud of all your accomplishments!
