Hatcheries and Stocking

Picture
Manitoulin Streams continues to support and partner with several organizations, fish hatcheries, and communities throughout the island. These hatcheries include the Blue Jay Creek Fish Hatchery, Little Current Fish & Game Club Hatchery, and the Gore Bay Fish & Game Club Fish Hatchery, the Hills Lake Fish Hatchery, Aundeck Omni Kaning, Sheguiandah, and Assiginack Township.  Fish aquaculture and stocking lakes & streams is a proven benefit to the fisheries in the Great Lakes, especially on Manitoulin Island.
The Little Current Fish & Game Club even hosts and educates students on this each year at the Bass Lake Creek Educational Event, which is held on Bill Strain's property (now operated by his daughter and her husband), where the LCFGC hatchery is also located.
