Every year, community members, businesses, schools, and volunteers come together to help keep Manitoulin clean, healthy, and beautiful. Our Island-Wide Cleanup is a collaborative effort to remove litter from roadsides, shorelines, trails, and public spaces across the Island.
This event is about more than just picking up garbage, it’s about community pride, environmental stewardship, and protecting the land and waters that make Manitoulin such a special place to live and visit. Whether you’re joining as an individual, a family, a classroom, or a business team, every bag collected makes a difference. |

2026 Island Wide Garbage Cleanup
and Bridge-to-Boat Results
Thank you to everyone who came out to clean up garbage from our communities and roadsides this year.
A whopping total 518 bags of trash was collected from around Manitoulin Island, covering over 256km! We had 350 volunteers put in close to 700 hours including adults, seniors, and children.
This year we found countless cigarette butts, plastic bottles, coffee cups, snack wrappers, plastic bags; just to name a few! Lets continue to work on our stewardship throughout the year keeping our island garbage free. Keep a garbage bag or can in your car and utilize public garbage's when you can; remember to 'leave no trace behind'!
