Once again the students were hard at work restoring a section of M'Chigeeng Creek improving fish habitat for spawning and aquatic life. With the help from Windy Lake Provincial Park and Sudbury District Stewardship Rangers, we placed cobble into the stream to create wing deflectors to scour sand off of spawning gravel and protect the shoreline banks from erosion. as well as random boulders to create a variance of flow. An annual stream cleanup was conducted last week and trees are planted each year to help create a canopy layer for the future. These students are the future stewards of the land! You should all be proud of yourselves, way to go Lakeview School! |
