Stewardship Initiatives
In the past Manitoulin Streams has partnered with various organizations and municipalities to develop and carry-out stewardship projects and initiatives that not only deal specifically with rivers and streams but also the overall stewardship of the land. Such initiatives have included Deer Save, Norton's Creek Eyed Egg Event, and also assisting in on-the-ground tactics to deal with the spreading invasive species known as "Phrags" (Phragmites Australis). As well, documenting and mapping out where invasive species of flora and fauna have been found on Manitoulin Island.
As Manitoulin Streams has absorbed the Manitoulin Area Stewardship Council, mandates and initiatives on stewardship of the land continue to be a subject of discussion and action that the Manitoulin Streams Board of Directors seeks to continue and expand upon in the future! If you wish to become involved in or participate one of our stewardship initiatives, please don't hesitate to contact us for more details!
