Sue Meert talked them about becoming fisheries and invasive species biologists, the need for engineers, surveyors, construction workers and environmental technicians to conduct stream assessments. Nathan showed them our new GIS stream application that he is working on and how GIS is all around us and how it can be applied. One student loved the GIS application so much that he said "This is exactly what I want to do when I get older!".
The Assiginack Public School STAR (Students As Researchers) program invited us to the school to be part of their Options/Career Day to showcase to students what types of jobs are involved with stream restoration and to get them excited about possible career options.
