Manitoulin Streams was down at the Sandfield docks handing out white spruce and white pine trees to Lake Manitou Area Association (LMAA) members until noon! Contact us and pick up some trees and plant them along your shoreline to help prevent erosion and to help reduce nutrients entering Lake Manitou!

Purple Loosestrife is an invasive species that has been found on Manitoulin Island. We did work with Ontario Beetles a couple of years ago to release Neogalerucella beetles in the Gore Bay marsh as part of a bio-control method. Do not transplant this plant near your properties.
This week's family water challenge! When you are out at the beach or out exploring get the kids to document what they see along the waters edge, upload pictures and fill out the survey and they will be entered into our draw! So many different animals depend on water to survive and it provides important habitat!
Animal Detective https://forms.gle/GbP6MZHJkgoDsuC79 Thank you to Steel North for supporting our Jacket and Jeans Fundraiser! All funds raised at this event support stream restoration across Manitoulin Island.
Thanks to the Gore Bay Fish and Game Club for helping us do a garbage cleanup along the shores in Gore Bay and Bickels creek today. Quite a hot day in waders but the girls found a way to cool off at the end! Encourage everyone to do their part and let’s keep the garbage and plastics out of our waters!
Manitoulin Streams is putting together a series of challenges for families across the Island to get involved with this month. They will all be focused around the importance of water! This will involve activities that improve water quality and will help us gather information across the island by becoming citizen scientist! For our first challenge, click on the link below, fill out the survey and send us a picture to streams@amtelecom.net to show us how you are helping conserve water. This will enter you into a draw for a chance to win some Manitoulin Streams swag. This is a great way to get the youth across the Island to become future stewards of the land and water!
