Received some really cool drone images of the work we completed along Grimesthorpe creek which is a cold water brook trout creek. Working in partnership with the agricultural producers we installed watering ramps and fencing to restrict livestock, improved in-stream and edge habitat and planted thousands of trees creating an amazing riparian zone along the creek. As the trees grow they will sequester carbon, provide shade to reduce water temperatures and absorb nutrients before it enters the creek. We are always looking for more agricultural producers interested in working with us for future projects. I just love seeing the work we completed from a different view!
Spiny waterflea has been found in our big waters and some inland lakes. It is very important to clean off your fishing equipment and dry out or power wash your boats before moving from one lake to another to prevent the spread of this invasive species.
Happy 2022! We are looking forward to another great year ahead of us. We enjoy providing you educational information about the environment and the ecosystems in our area that support our fishery and wildlife as well as ways to protect it. I've been seeing a lot of pileated woodpeckers around my house lately and thought we'd provide you a little information about them. Have a great day!
