Every day that you post a photo of yourself removing garbage will be added up and whoever picked up garbage on the most days during the event takes home the prize! It's almost that time of season when anglers head out for the annual smelt run in order to catch a feast for the family. This is a reminder that Rainbow Smelt are an invasive species so never use live or dead smelts as bait in Ontario lakes, rivers or streams. Check the regulations as to what can be used. When cleaning rainbow smelt, be careful not to dump entrails into a lake or river. Fertilized rainbow smelt eggs can easily invade new waters and they can drastically impact the fishery.
