2025 Project Sites
Mindemoya River Site M616
Manitoulin Streams staff planted trees and shrubs sourced from Ontario Native Plants, Verbinnen's Nursery, and additional vegetation from the Manitoulin Streams nursery along the Mindemoya River. This effort aims to establish a healthy riparian zone along this vital salmonid habitat, keeping the water cool and mitigating climate change impacts. Development in this area has led to reduced riparian integrity and the regrading and revegetating of this corner bend will help to create a more stable and healthy ecosystem.

Blue Jay Creek Site B29
Manitoulin Streams staff have planted a variety of trees and shrubs provided by Ontario Native Plants, Verbinnen's Nursery, and the Manitoulin Streams nursery along the banks of Blue Jay Creek. This project aims to enhance the riparian zone of this crucial brook trout stream, ensuring cooler water temperatures and reducing the effects of climate change. Livestock access in the area has been limited with the installation of fencing to support sustainable grazing and crop management.
