Manitoulin Streams was recognized by the Steering Committee and organizers of the State of the Lakes Ecosystem Conference (SOLEC) as a SOLEC 2008 Success Story honoree.  This award is presented to organizations that spearhead environmental projects that provide improvements to the “integrity” of the Great Lakes or local ecosystem ; provide linkages among environment, community and/or economy; form strong partnerships where all involved parties benefit; demonstrate adequate monitoring and development; as well as distribute educational information that promotes positive activities and attitudes regarding the environment.  Manitoulin Streams was presented an award by the U.S. Consul General in Toronto and the Canadian Consul General in Buffalo to recognize the organizations achievements in Niagara Falls, Ontario on October 22nd, 2008.
